To all:

The ball is rolling. The fact it is moving gives me hope. It may move slowly, stall, and then move forward some more.

I'd like to expand a little on what I'd like to see, but I want it to be understood these ideas are not set in stone.

For the time being, I'm simply trying to garner interest in the project. I would not want those who are favorable to the idea to feel as if they're committed to anything. I would like those who feel the project worthwhile to let others know about it.

I'd like to see the whole thing totally democratic, and I'd like to see entry into the organization set low enough that it can get wide support;[I'm willing to put up 1/10 of what I'd like to see as a starting point, but I certainly hope the amount will be much greater] the more people the better. But above all, I'd like to see that whatever is decided, is decided to the satisfaction of all those interested initially.

If, and its a big "if", this thing can come off, it will take a lot of time to work out the details so the end results could be a ways off. Whatever those details become should be decided by those interested. I feel very strongly about the idea, but I do not, in any way shape or
form, want to give the impression that what I think should be the way it is. This is something which I would like to see happen, and something I want to be a part of.

To reiterate, SI is made up of many people from many locations. It is a diverse group of many philosophical viewpoints. I hope, regardless of bias, there can be a consensus reached upon which to work and go forward. But right now, as I stated, I'd first like to see an expression of interest. After which, all those interested can start giving their ideas as to how the organization should be set up, and what criteria should be required to be a part of it.

I also realize there will be some areas which will undoubtedly require those of expertise. I'm hoping those areas will be addressed by some of the parties who express an initial interest.

On a different note, I'd like to make one more point to any party who is involved in the Edwarda Memorial and is also considering this idea. Naturally, I'd like to see both supported, but if it is a question of either/or, then I'd prefer support go to the Edwarda Memorial. There have been some very good people which have put a lot of work into the Edwarda Memorial, and I would not care to think their efforts have gone in vain because of my proposal.

I've been burning the candle at both ends lately, am covered up at work, and have some projects of a personal interest ongoing, so my online time will be sporadic. I'll try to get to any and all messages in my "inbox" as soon as I can.

Thanks to all for their interest,

Mike
