I gave up and visited other sites, which were OK. So I guess it wasn't my ISP. I've had second thoughts about blanks. It would be childish. Besides, there have always been those who reply anyway. A friend is an amateur radio enthusiast and he says they regularly have crank callers. They just don't reply to them. If someone replies anyway, another amateur calls him on a land line to explain the situation. Usually crank posts on SI peter out in a day or so. Maybe the fewer replies, the sooner the crank posts stop. I can't think of a way to affirmatively tell a poster 'I'm ignoring you' without sending a message saying so. Several people on the uncivil thread actually seem to enjoy taking on our two bears. So, I guess we'll have to live with them. GM
