Had it been either Ammo or CD who told us this story, we would have believed it because in all their years they have never given us reason to distrust them. I was telling Dan last night and he said that although he hasn't practiced law in a long time, this sure looked like a violation of constitution rights and he'd be getting a lawyer had they coerced one of ours into a search.

In Ammo's case, we left the decision to him about how he pled and sadly he said "Mom, who's going to believe a 17 year old over a cop?" so he pled guilty and went to Teen Court, where he will probably get 40 hours of community service work and no record. If you knew Ammo, he is a quiet, very polite, Yes sir kid. (unlike CW and apparently you!)
The search case, the one that really troubles me, happened to my maid's son. I've asked her for the policeman's name, and thought I might call the department and say I was doing a story; there have been several incidents that I've heard about from friends re: this type of thing but never one that seemed to actually violate rights the way this one does.

I agree that if this is not an isolated case, this policeman should have complaints begin to show up. Parents around here aren't exactly the type you bully. They are in general executives and pilots, neither of whom take kindly to being messed with. It's a weird mix of good ol' boy rural culture with newly rich yuppie types, and there has been plenty of friction.
Which may partially explain this, now that I think of it.

At least he didn't wave a loaded automatic rifle in his face, Michael!! :))))
