A Bush/McCain ticket would end Democrat power in Washington for a while. It would be a landslide win and would sweep more Republicans into the House. As much as I dislike McCain, it would be worth the price to see the Democrats sent howling into the wilderness.

I think you're right about Mitchell, there are few Democrats more partisan than he is. Every time Bush Sr. sent a budget up there in the second half of his presidency, it was "DOA" to quote his Mitchell's own words. As soon as he got the budget proposals, he threw them in the garbage can.
