Hi Ah- You make very good points on the need for a tech to engage the drop down. I find myself agreeing with "both" you and Eric.

When I bought my new Dell, I used my old @Home install disk to get things running. I used the same 3Com modem. I had the broadband ready/ethernet network card on the new computer and only needed a phone tech to tweak the software for me. I was up and running in moments.

It is nice to have a special touch on service, but couldn't most people do what I did if they buy a kit? The kit to include a modem, broadband card, software, etc.? Along with a kit would come an 800 support number. As I mentioned before, the service is outstanding now. I did not have to wait at all...even for a higher level support person. They are either having fewer problems, or have substantially increased their support force. I think it is the latter.

I know that most people don't care to run their own cable to the computer desktop destination. A truck roll is necessary for those people. My AT&T guy wanted the cable split so computer and TV were separate. I would not have done that myself without their specific instructions. The cable guy did not like my splitters (Radio Shack) and changed them all to higher quality ones. He was convinced his splitters would give me a better signal. I guess the splitters could be in a kit as well. Oh well, I am just thinking out loud here.

The Street is speaking loud and clear about ATHM earning's report. It is all about subs. They were not impressed with the 10% drop. I guess on Bell's behalf, cable companies are responsible for the actual roll-out. Aren't they? Which cable partners had problems with supplies? Who dropped the ball?

I'm off to the dentist. I swear the assistant I get stuck with is a descendant of Hitler. (Sorry J.J.) I brush at least twice a day and floss on most. That darned assistant asked me last time if I brush my teeth. I told her, "Sure...twice a year whether I need it or not." She is something else. There must be five dental assistants in the office, and I always get stuck with Lois the Lion Killer. I don't mind the drills at all. Just don't give me Lois!!!!
