of course it's jerked around at will. just check option OI on gold before expiration, and you can work out to the penny where the price will land.

same goes for stocks. trading is always manipulated to serve the interests of institutional option writers. derivatives are in fact the main driving force in US financial markets. the one thing that has by far the loosest connection with the markets is reality....
