Headline: Com21's DOXport 121 Cable Modem Receives CableLabs DOCSIS
Certification

================================================================
MILPITAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 2000--Com21, Inc.
(NASDAQ:CMTO), a leading supplier of system solutions for the
broadband access market, today announced that its innovative new
USB-compatible DOXport(TM) 121 cable modem has been certified by
CableLabs(R) for compliance with DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Services
Interface Specification) 1.0.
The first Com21 modem to provide both USB and standard Ethernet
connectivity, the DOXport 121 is expected to be upgradeable to DOCSIS
1.1.
Ideal for single user, small business and SOHO markets, the
DOXport 121 provides unsurpassed networking and connection
flexibility. Users who have no LAN card, or who do not want to connect
the modem through an Ethernet hub, can simply plug it into a universal
serial bus (USB) port and begin using a fast, cable-based Internet
connection immediately.
"The new DOXport 121 provides the general consumer and small
business markets with the most easily installed network options for
Internet access," said Ron Foster, chief operating officer of Com21.
"Given the increasing popularity of USB connections for all kinds of
peripherals, the dual USB/Ethernet ports give the DOXport 121
wonderful versatility.
The DOXport 121 is expected to be available in September 2000.>>
