I am new to this thread. I'm into it now because I'm heavy into Intel and now worried about the lawsuit. I remember the effects on Intel stock during the original AMD lawsuit. I think I may have some historical information on this INTC/DEC lawsuit. I had a friend working for DEC from almost it's beginning to just recently. He told me back in the '80's that DEC attempted to develop a RISC processor but it was a complete failure. Soon after that I think they entered into some kind of agreement with MIPS (maybe even bought them) who I believe were leaders in RISC processors. After awhile they dumped MIPS (sold to Silicon Graphics?). Soon (1-2 yrs) thereafter that they came out with the ALPHA chip, the best and greatest RISC processor. I always felt they may have pillaged MIPS and took the technology to build ALPHA. I wonder who really has patents on the technology in question? What slight variations to MIPS patents were made by DEC and patents obtained from our wonderful patent office? Because of all this history I am very suspect of the grounds for the INTEL suit. Does anybody out there remember any of this? Do you think it has a bearing on the situation?

Thanks for listening from a concerned Intel stockholder.

David
