The competition is far larger than the combined co., with far bigger war chests, and none are directly tied to consumers. The DOJ does not want to stop innovation, but prevent a monopoly that would cause consumer prices to be artificially inflated.

I kind of agree with that assessment. I think their actions against MSFT might get them go a bit easy on JDSU. There is always some balancing act. The same could be true with airline deals---be tough on them as they were against WCOM. I think the timing for the deal was perfect. It has a great chance to get through---so much that maybe we won't see the 20% discount price (SDLI) and more like to see 10 to 15% down the road.

However, I still disagree with opinions on what would happen to SDLI stock if the deal fails--I think it will have a temporary tanking no matter how good a company it is---It is just my opinion and of course I could be wrong. I guess on that point, opinions are strong on either side.

But in the end, I think this deal works out and everyone is happy.

good luck.

BTW--We might get the JDSU call buying opportunity if people are willing to gamble .... I mean speculate. Late day today or mid day tomorrow for the July out of the money calls (if the stock stays where it is now). August 150s tomorrow afternoon or even now. IMHO of course--lots of risk involved.
