Dark Fiber Agreements:

Thanks for the response. From what you are saying, Lvlt totally looses control over those fibers, correct?

In the short run, it makes sense to sell the dark fiber that is in excess. However, lvlt has been saying that there will never be a glut of bandwidth. So why sell the excess now. Wouldn't they make more money later by leasing its use in the future?

What I am asking is: Does the sale of the dark fiber represent a sacrifice of future profits for a short term increase in cash? Or, is the sale part of its long term strategy?
