Well, if you assume that a catastrophic event would be followed pretty swiftly with a congenial environment in which the survivors would flourish, then I guess I can see why you would be pretty sanguine. I would assume a more challenging environment due to the disruption of habitat and the pestilential possibilities of mass carnage.......Since my main point has been that one cannot get "improvement" out of the mechanistic premises of Darwinian evolution, I am happy for you to note that no one chooses what to become. My point was to speculate on what characteristics would be favored in the environment I would expect to follow a catastrophe sufficient to cause mass extinctions........
