The hotel does not have $8 from each one but $8 1/3, 8 times 3 equals 24. When they get 1 back they have actually paid $9 1/3 which when multiplied times 3 is 28 plus 2 is 30. The trick is that they did not each pay 8 when you divide 3 by the 25 that they were charged. I think the larger question is, is this a motel or hotel and if so is it a notel motel if three people are staying in one room for $25?
