Gottfried's chart looks reassuring. It seems that just about every summer, the BTB ratio takes a dip, and it does not necessarily correspond to a drop in the absolute number of shipments. Look at the dip in the BTB in the summer of 1999, for example - it meant nothing.

You are right - no one, not even the insiders, can predict what will happen with the cycle.

However, the only thing that ultimately matters is when investors think the cycle may end. Perhaps the top really is 2 years away, but if enough investors think the top is coming soon, semi stocks will continue to be weak. I'm not exactly sure what will turn investor sentiment around for you guys. Semi execs are reassuring the public. Analysts are reassuring the public. But they're just not listening. Maybe things will pick up in the winter quarter, when techs are traditionally strong.

p.s. Anybody notice SDLI rocketed 68 points today? I'm not rubbing it in. I just can't believe it.
