Yet, look at him now as he strides confidently into the Senate building, surrounded by his phalanx of bodyguards. He practices supressing his smile in the mirror in the morning. Andrea Mitchell has, of course, been "on top of the situation at the Federal Reserve" for years. And she is old enough to remember that a real bear market just isn't good television. Who likes to watch their net worth be ground to dust, slowly but steadily? Next thing you know, Americans would eschew their gas guzzlers and drive around horrid little tin-cans again, or worse, ride the Metro. And where would that get us?
