Thread: "Sun is becoming the new IBM," according to Steve Milunovich.

Here are ML's comments on SUNW from their, "Morning Notes Summary." When Steve's full research report in posted, I'll share sections here.

Sun Microsystems (SUNW, $98 1/16,
B-1-1-9)
Raise FY01E from $1.20 to $1.30
Stellar Quarter
Sun significantly beat estimates with revenue up 42%,
orders rising 54%, and EPS of $0.39. The results
suggest that Unix server growth across the industry is
accelerating due to the Internet buildout. Sun is
becoming the new IBM.
Management increased its revenue growth forecast
from 25% to 30% for F2001. We have increased our
estimate from $1.20 to $1.30. F1Q results should be
strong at $0.24 with revenue down sequentially less
than normal thanks to the large backlog.
We are increasing our price objective to $125 or 96X
EPS. We think tThe risk is that earnings growth will
decelerate in the second half of the year.

P.S. JDN: Only "7" figures (let me see... maximum = $99,999.99) and you are retired? No wonder your wife still works!!
