DS,

<< Interview with Mark Roberts on Radio Wall Street >>

Thanks for the link it was a good listen. I was a bit surprised about how upbeat Mark was considering that earnings came in a penny below his estimates, revenues $50 million below, and he has lowered the Q4 estimate for the 2nd time in 60 days.

He certainly reaffirmed for me that Qualcomm is a great long term hold, and a good long term buy for anyone that does not have an adequate position in wireless at the moment.

Korea will, IMO, take care of itself but IF Nokia should do a chipset deal with Qualcomm (not clear they will) that news would clearly put Qualcomm on the move again.

Qualcomm has been pretty beaten down, but the good news is that most of the downside news is out, and there is a lot of potential upside that could happen.

I think that the most significant thing that has happened over the last 6 months is some resetting of expectations about the adoption rate of cdma2000 and more importantly that it is not a loss to Qualcomm if WCDMA is selected as a 3rd generation air interface technology, other than the fact that Qualcomm does not have proprietary control of that technology. I have been confident as a matter of faith that this was the case since the March 1999 Ericsson accord and I invested initially several months before that on the probability that would be the case.
