You are correct, I was focusing only on the current extinction rate. But right now I am arguing something limited, the sort of Deist God that Jefferson and Paine believed in, without reference to special providence. Since dinosaurs were rendered extinct by a fortuitous catastrophic event, it is not a comment on either their design or the general design of nature, except in the limited sense that the Problem of Evil is always with us......
