When I bought into this company originally right after the IPO, I guessed it would take at least three years to see if the fledgling would survive. By survive, I mean still be a company. I realized then that there was an enormous risk that either a big company would come in and provide unbeatable competition or some new technology would come out and make their's obsolete. Well three years has past and the company survived. This was all it really needed to do in this time frame.

Now the next year or two, the question is, can they get to the stage where they get to print money? Anyone have that answer? I don't and I don't think it is any more answerable than that first question I asked myself three years ago...."can they survive?" The company's future is not clear because they are planning into a constantly shifting landscape. Guess what? So is everybody else. Right now I own a business that I have spend twenty years building that is scheduled for extinction in about an hour and fifteen minutes.

Do you doubt we are moving towards all net all the time? No.

Do you doubt that just about everyone will have broadband in the future? No.

Do you doubt that anyone that wants to distribute anything will be doing it over the net and a broadband connection? No.

Is there any company out there that wants to be where ATHM is right now? Not a chance.

Are the subscribers leaving in droves? No.

Are the DSL guys finally getting their act together? Hardly.

Do you think T has bet their entire future on making this thing work? Yes.

Do you think we're all going to wind up on AOL after we've been @Home?
Not me.

Even the gerbils at the top can't stop what is going to happen in the next two years....but I'm sure they'll give it their best shot.

Just my thoughts- Grace aka "ATHM bagholder"
