And since in response to your comments, I would just about say the same thing I did on the HLIT thread, here was my reply:

J Fieb and Thread- Nice PR but meaningless. Before this will be a viable business model, it takes a fat pipe(which ADSL and HFC can't supply) and a special set-top box(STB) and/or a personal video recorder(PVR). Weird to announce something like this today unless they really think the family is going to gather around the PC to watch movies. IMO, not going to happen. ... Curious as to why you posted on HLIT thread. Is there any connection between HLIT and any of the companies mentioned in the article that I don't know about? As far as I know, HLIT generates no revenues from any telcos. It may be more related, if at all, to CUBE.

Jay- Must be one of those PR things that companies put out to create excitement. I'm not exactly sure of their motivation to even bother announcing it this early? And add to the technical problems, one of theft. Especially if the network is made capable of streaming. Won't take a hacker more than a day to break that code. But then again, maybe whatever solution MPAA comes up with to deal with DVD theft, will apply to streaming theft? -MikeM(From Florida)
