Hmm, I wasn't disputing anything about Baltusral. Last night I did some stats though. I thought there were at least 3 courses that had hosted the U.S. Open at least 7 times, that's incorrect, here are the stats:

- 2 couses have hosted the Open 7 times
Baltusral
Oakmont in PA. ( Played this course and it's great!)
- 1 course hosted 6 times
Oakland Hills

No courses have ever had it only 5 times
- 6 courses have held it 4 times
The Olympic Club
Pebble Beach
Winged Foot
Merion
Inverness
Myopia

The 1st US Open was played in 1895. 47 different courses have hosted the 99 US Open's held. The US Open was not held in the following years: 1917, 1918, 1942 thru 45. I think Pebble Beach has the most impressive winners list:
Nicklaus, 72
Watson, 82
Kite, 92
Woods!, '00

Hope this clears it up.

PS- Yes Pinehurst only ever hosted in 1999, but it's still one of the finest courses in the US. Interestingly, the perrennial # 1 course in the US, Pine Valley, has never hosted the Open.
