thanks much mark--i went in and unchecked 21 "thingees" but kept scan registry, systems tray,something called EACLEAN(sounded important:),service connection and motive monitor(they both sounded important,also:)--but otherwise just went uncheck uncheck for 21 other items(that was a lot,i think!).
I did a search for resource meter and found my version of 98 doesn't have it,but can be downloaded from MSFT web site.
BTW,i am going through all this because i accidently erased my ENTIRE harddrive!!!(it's a long story as to how that happened:( and lost a lot---a whole lot---brutal.and the killer is my computer can write on blank CDs,up to 650mb per disc,for safe storage hardrive data,and i kept saying,i will get to that--tomorrow(famous last words!) thanks,again,max |
