Scott,

This past week has been a real experience! Every time I think I have seen "everything" that can happen in the stock market, I am treated to an experience like last week. On the message boards the last few days, many reasons are put forth for the carnage in the semi-equips but I think it is unexplainable in rational terms. Rational thinking, in any form whatsoever, was absent in the semi-equips last week.

Last week convinced me that I am going to have to change my investment approach - I don't know to what approach yet, but anything that uses reason as to why stocks may go up or down is useless. I will have to invent a totally irrational way to obtain investment success.

KLIC closed on Wednesday at 57.94. On Thursday, at 7:21 am Eastern time, KLIC issued a press release announcing record bookings, sales and net income. They exceeded the First call earnings estimate by 27 percent! We all know what happened next - The stock price closed at 52.50 on Thursday and 46.75 on Friday for a 2 day loss of 19 percent.

This type of action on KLIC was repeated many times over for other stocks in the semi-equip area as well. As shown in the 2 tables previously presented, the group of semi-equips was off 15 percent for the week - this after record performances were being documented all week long.

I know one thing for sure about the action last week - I don't have any answers!!

Don W.
