Les,

You have to figure that any war fought "by committee"
was going to be a failure. For all practical purposes,
Kosovo has been partitioned by Slobo and NATO. The only
reason that the Albanian side of Kosovo is showing any
improvement is because of the hundreds of millions of
dollars of aid pouring into the region. I don't know
what is going to happen. I can't see Yugoslavia going
on as it is now...but then, look at Iraq. Their econ-
omy is actually growing, Saddams power is growing, the
coalition is fracturing. Slobo might be able to pull
the same rabbit out of his hat. It could have been
worse. The last major war my committee was Korea.
Look what happened to UN Forces there. America suffered
about 45,000 casualties in Korea, and only 7 (so far)
in Kosovo. The polls seem to indicate that Americans
don't believe that the Yugoslavian war ended in "victory".
You can count me among them...

-John
