FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 1997--SyQuest Technology Inc., (NASDAQ:SYQT), a world leader in removable cartridge hard drive technology, today announced a long-term arrangement with Bank Rakyat Indonesia, under which all branches will standardize on SyQuest's award-winning SyJet 1.5GB removable cartridge hard drives and cartridges. SyQuest began shipments to Bank Rakyat's more than 4,300 branches this week, after the company qualified SyJet as rugged enough to support the bank's local servers handling all branch transactions and report generation. The Bank Rakyat expects each of its branch offices to install one or more SyJet drives and to archive its respective server-generated records and reports at the rate of one 1.5GB SyJet cartridge per month. "We are pleased to enter into this long-term relationship with Bank Rakyat and pledge our full support to ensure a successful program at the branch offices," said Greg Peel, vice president, Asia Pacific Sales. "This installation represents a great opportunity for us in the banking and finance arena, as SyJet's value, capacity and performance make it an ideal long-term solution for these applications."
Looks like the Syjet is becoming the standard for Banking in the two most populous nations. They have billions, not thousand or millions of people.
