HORSHAM, Pa. -(Dow Jones)- VerticalNet Inc. (VERT) said it completed
its joint venture with Softbank Corp.'s (J.SFT) Softbank E-Commerce
Corp.
In a press release Sunday, VerticalNet said the venture, VerticalNet
Kabushiki Kaisha, plans to launch business-to-business "vertical
communities" in Japan.
Softbank and VerticalNet announced the venture in January.
VerticalNet also named David Kostman to the new position of president
of VerticalNet International. The company said Kostman was a managing
director in Lehman Brothers Investment banking division.
The company said it is expanding its global activities, which will be
led from its Horsham, Pa., headquarters.
VerticalNet owns and operates 57 Web sites designed as online
business-to-business communities.
