Taiwan Fin Min: Recent Stk Volatility Only Temporary
TAIPEI (Dow Jones)--The recent volatility on Taiwan's stock market is only temporary as the island's economic fundamentals are good, Finance Minister Shea Jia-dong said Monday.
In addition, Shea said he has confidence the central bank would stabilize the local currency market.

Shea made the comments to reporters before a meeting with other government officials to discuss the recent volatility in Taiwan's financial markets.

Analysts say the government intervened aggressively Friday to support both the stock market from falling below 8000 points and the local dollar from depreciating much further below NT$31 to the U.S. dollar.
