Hi all; Re "The 'Spring' dates for MAJC". It's now late July, and still no MAJC. IBM is the foundry, but no mention of any design wins. Chips are supposed to be back, but no mention in the press about companies being shown prototypes, etc. The recent Java conference came and went with no mention of MAJC. I heard a rumor that it is a performance pig and the company is respinning it. Anybody else hear anything? MAJC references: Sun's first product based on this architecture, MAJC 5200, will tape out in less than a month. Engineering samples are due by June 2000. Nov 22, 1999 techweb.com I have a certain suspicion that the RDRAM interface may not be a contributor to the health of the product. Perhaps Sun is putting on an interface to a cheaper DRAM: See #reply-10996458 . They mentioned that the architecture allowed "integration of IP blocks: -- Memory controllers (DRDRAMs, SDRAMs)" on page 22 of the pdf file. -- Carl
