I got a 17 inch flat screen with my Compaq Presario 6 months ago, and you would have to pry it out of my cold, dead, hands to get it away from me.

I bought a 42 inch Panasonic HDTV Flat screen 2 months ago, and I feel the same way about it. I only watch DVD movies and VCR dance tapes on it, so I did not bother with the converter.

It automatically converts normal VCR tapes to wide screen, (cuts off the top and bottom, no distortion,) I had 10 dancers over last night watching out takes from movies made in the '30s through the 50's of dance sequences. The 2 key dance sequences for my crowd are Jean Veloz in "Groovie Movie", and Dean Collins in "Buck Privates". The whole "Hollywood Style" of doing Lindy Hop comes from those two dance sequences. They were both made in the 40's.

I have a 5 speaker Bose system set up with DTS sound, and it is unbelievable!

The TV was 4K, and I have 2K in the sound system. Worth every dime of it, IMO.

I am using an on-line system, NetFlix, to supply my DVDs. You pay them $20 a month, and set up a list of movies you want to see. You can change the order of the movies any time on line. They mail you 4 movies, and each time you send one back they mail you another. 4 day turnaround! There is no time limit or late fees. You can go though no movies or 30 movies a month for the same $20.

If you are a Movie buff, the DVD advantage is outstanding. I have the Director's cut of "The Wild Bunch". It includes a 12 minute documentary about the making of the Movie, and 12 minutes that was cut from the original movie, that really belonged in, IMO.

I am a Kevin Spacey fan, and I did a search of all movies he has been in, and am now viewing them all. I had missed "7" and "Swimming with Sharks", "Outbreak", and "A Time to Kill".

Since there are no late fees, I watch them at my leisure, and return them when I am ready.
