Xicor Shares Fall After It Introduces New Fiber-Optic Products

Milpitas, California, July 24 (Bloomberg) -- Xicor Inc.
shares rose as much as 67 percent after the maker of chips for
fiber optics and cell phones announced a new line of products to
simplify fiber-optic networks.
The shares rose 3 3/16, or 48 percent, to 9 7/8 in late
trading of 13.1 million, more than 17 times the three-month daily
average, after touching 11 3/16 earlier.
Xicor said it's developed four products that consolidate
control and monitoring functions for laser-diode modules, making
room for more fiber-optic cables on a network. Laser diodes
convert the light in fiber-optic networks back into electrical
signals.
The Milpitas, California-based company makes computer chips
that allow circuits to be adjusted and remember the changes so
that functions can be resumed even after a power outage.
