The Best Way to play the Corvis IPO is RTT on TSE.
Roctest currently has approx. 1.25 million common shares of Corvis. Talk on the street is that Corvis one of the most eagerly anticipated IPO's this year. Their all optical fiber optic technology can allow transmission of light
for a distance of 3200km without regeneration. This compares to the current standard of 300 to 600km before regeneration is required. This means faster, cheaper and more efficient transmission of signals. No wonder that they have already received buyout offers from Nortel and
Lucent (which they turned down) and more recently Cisco's offer of $10Bilion which was also rejected.
If the IPO of corvis doubles from $15 to $30 a share, RTT will probably stay at this price. However, if you believe that the IPO of Corvis will be widely successful (the current demand for IPO stock is many times that of
available supply), then we should see Corvis open in the $45 to $60 area (USD). At $45 US, this translates to a market price of RTT about $28 CAD.This assume no holding company discount. Remember that RTT has only 4.17million shares outstanding. If Corvis soars to $60 USD a share,
expect RTT to about $34 Cad a share, using a 1.45 exchange rate.
