Steve, re: Physical implementation.
Suppose there are 16 processor units splitting the task. Each has it's own memory. (IBM claims DDR at 3.2GB/Second with Gekko). There are a number of ways it could be physically implemented. Anything from one huge mobo with 16 identical areas for each processing unit to 16 identical small mobo's. In either case the key is that the mobo area for each processing unit doesn't interact with the other areas. (Whether physically separated in the mobo plane or through multi mobo's). My guess is that Sony is using multiple mobo's, maybe 16?
At any rate, JMHO's.
