Datakey, Inc. Announces Second Quarter Results
MINNEAPOLIS, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Datakey, Inc. (Nasdaq: DKEY) today reported results for the second quarter ended July 1, 2000. Revenue for the second quarter of 2000 was $1,837,000, up 59% from $1,154,000 for the same period last year. Net loss for the quarter was $725,000 or $.09 per share compared to a net loss of $907,000 or $.29 per share, in the year-earlier period.
Revenue for the six month period increased by 44% to $3,610,000 from $2,514,000 in the year earlier period. Net loss decreased to $1,433,000, or $.19 per share, versus $1,634,000, or $.53 per share, in the prior year.
"The second quarter was a record quarter for our Information Security Solutions (ISS) business unit," said Carl P. Boecher, president & CEO of Datakey, Inc.. "Over $1,500,000 in new orders were placed in the second quarter, and ISS second quarter revenue increased by over 800% over the second quarter of 1999 to $940,000. ISS added 41 new customers in the second quarter versus 17 in the second quarter of 1999. Since our first product was introduced in late 1997, our user list has grown to 650 enterprises, and we have sold almost 270,000 seats."
