ARC Awarded Full-Service Help Desk Assignment
from Cross Country Automotive Services Company

BARRINGTON, Ill., July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Alternative Resources Corporation (ARC) (Nasdaq: ALRC - news), a
leading provider of technology management services, today announced it has won a three-year SmartSourcing® assignment
to manage a full-service Help Desk for Cross Country Automotive Services. Cross Country is the leading provider of
automotive-related customer service programs in North America. The assignment follows a comprehensive Help Desk
Assessment study conducted last spring by ARC's consulting group and incorporates many of the recommendations that
emerged from that study.

The assignment encompasses support of more than twenty discreet software products and platforms as well as many
ancillary user productivity services. ARC will provide an on-site Project Manager as well as a team of Help Desk
Specialists, all trained in ARC's best-practices methodologies.

Commenting on behalf of Cross Country, Hillary Abbey, Director, Technology and Systems said: ``ARC did a nice job
during the up-front assessment of identifying problems with our previous model as well as a concrete approach to process
improvement. While it wasn't our original plan, we decided our going- forward needs would best be met by outsourcing
management and operation of the Help Desk to ARC.''

Commenting for ARC, Ed Jachim, Eastern Region VP said: ``We are very pleased to welcome Cross Country to the
growing list of clients that regard Help Desk as a critical but non-core IT activity that is better entrusted to an outside
specialist. We look forward to working with them to continuously raise their standards for end-user productivity.''
