FWIW, Harmon commented on NETP in his newsletter again:

Hello Steve,
What are your thoughts on CMGI and NETP after the heavy losses of the past
few months?

Harmon: CMGI (which we own) may take some time to put its belt-tightening
and new business-centric venture funds to work to show results. The delayed
Alta Vista IPO offers an example of the former while it’s too soon to say
how CMGI can do in infrastructure venture investing, outside its historical
realm of consumer-driven Web such as Lycos or GeoCities. CMGI has a good
knowledge of marketing and media but the deeper tech is a wait and see if
it can IPO or sells some of the newer investments.

Net Perceptions (NETP) Web marketing solutions just inked a deal with
interactive TV maker ACTV. I’m bullish on the precision marketing sector
it’s in but NETP may be suffering from the backlash against etailers that
are its customers. Precision marketing is a nascent field and one that
ultimately I think could become very powerful for selling. Net Perceptions’
client base includes many of the world’s top retailers. Trading at about
20x trailing sales NETP hasn’t posted earnings yet so that’s also a drag on
its stock performance. Right now the market rewards earnings. Size doesn’t
matter, earnings matter. The old mantra was ‘get big fast’ - the new mantra
is ‘get profits fast.’
