Mushy Talkers, Mushy Doers.....
>>>>I firmly believe that most of our problems are figments of our individual and collective imaginations.>>>>
>>That may be true for upper-middle-class Americans. It is a good deal less true for many others. Is Africa's AIDS problem a figment of the imagination? How about the problems of the tens of millions of people around the world who live under the sway of petty tyrants who rob and abuse them at every turn?
I suspect that the world is a good deal more complex a place than you would like to believe. You may "GO" all you like, but you are fooling yourself if you think that your going is going to generate any real service to the rest of the world.
I live in a developing country which suffers from a deluge of upper middle class white-skinned New Age mushytalkers from the US and Europe, all babbling on about "service", and "appropriate technology", and "human development", and dozens of other catchphrases which mean absolutely nothing to the local poor. The truth is that they are serving nothing but their own egos. One hard-nosed businessman who comes here to make a profit, opens a factory, and creates jobs does more good for this country than the whole lot of them combined.>>
Steven:
Why do you define people as "poor?"
What measures are you using?
I believe some of the richest people who walk the face of this great earth don't have a roof over their heads, nor a bank account or job.
These people are "rich" in so many other areas which transcend any attempt by me/you/others to define/label/measure/track/control and serve them.
For the only way you are going to reach these folks is by really risking, exposing and humbly serving them without the quid pro quo.
Like everyone else, these people can help themselves. Arrogantly thinking that you can slap them into a job and stuff money down their pockets doesn't get at heart/root of the issue: RISK.
What are you personally doing to take a risk Stephen?
Are you radiating light, energy, trust and goodwill to others?
Or are you out to design/structure/control and use the light, energy, trust and goodwill of others to advance some hard-nosed "business" cause.
Think about this for a moment.
What are we supposed to do while being blessed with this wonderful gift of life?
I'm laying down the challenge that we were all meant to humbly help and serve others and I don't give a rats ass if there's someone or even the vast majority of people who don't believe this. For I believe it and am committed to living this way. Risking, sharing, helping, serving, etc.
The power, energy, faith and love you get/feel when you take risks and embrace/live this way are incredible/amazing/fabulous.
As I said before, I don't care how much or what smoke and fire the Wizard has been blowing all these years. I don't buy it. I don't believe it. I don't get it.
For I believe in the Wizard's unlimited potential. His potential is part of my potential. Cutting him off, judging him, blaming him, isolating him just cuts/judges/blames and isolates me.
For he and I are ONE.
ONE.
Get it.
ONE sun.
ONE energy.
ONE light.
ONE power.
Deny, define, limit, restrict, control, refract and take from others and you deny, define, limit, restrict, control, refract and take from the unlimited potential within yourself.
There's nothing to be gained by placing my ego, agenda and self higher or before anyone else. This removes me from the source of energy and light.
There's everything to be gained by placing others higher than me and me in service to others. The entire massive energy and light from the entire universe opens up it's loving arms and welcomes you home.
The internet is helping to radiate this message worldwide. Little bits and pieces of this energy are being shared by a growing number of individuals. We each have an incredible opportunity to learn from those we help and serve. And it has nothing to do with ego.
Try it. But be careful not to let your hard nose get in between you and the individual you are reaching out to.
Peace.
