Well- I try to rent almost everything foreign- because it is almost ALWAYS better than the Hollywood stuff. This weekend I saw both Isablle Huppert movies that were new (to me)- The Swindle and The School of Flesh, I saw Children of Heaven (a SUPER movie- like the White Balloon from Iran), Hi Life (With Eric Stolz, one of my favorite indy actors, right up there with Parker Posey). I saw The Chambermaid of the Titanic which I had NOT seen because the jacket makes it look like some crappy romance but it's NOT- it's a wonderful psychological study of love and obsession and creative imagination. I saw A Clandestine Marriage- a fabulous adaptation of a period play- if you like period pieces I recommend it highly. It's quite well done- BBC films had a hand in it if I recall. And do NOT see Niagra, Niagra- deeply disturbing movie. Down in the Delta was not quite as predictable as I'd thought it would be- but still, I can't recommend it. I think I might have seen a couple more- whenever my husband goes hiking I stay up all night all weekend and watch movies I know he wouldn't like.

Although Children of Heaven I saved for his return- because we both enjoyed the White Balloon so much.

And I apologize for trying to corrupt you but I don't think I can stop.
