No that's a fine idea and I play all my Dell on a monthly, or sometimes two month, basis.
The big reason I do the longer plays is that I can lock down the same approximate monthly return for 5 or 6 months at a time and not have to watch it.
If something really big happens, up or down, I can still jump in to make the returns even better. That's what happened on the INTC play last January. I was in it for six months, at the start, but when it ran so fast I just took the profits in 2 months and went on to the next one.

I don't think there is a downside to the shorter plays - I'm just lazy.

One thing though - If you really thought ABCD was gonna go up buy the stock then WAIT to sell the calls. Bigger premium at a higher strike so you make more money in the end. Only risk here is if the stock goes down while you wait. Bird in the hand....

If the deal looks good enough "right now" do a "buy write" with a limit so you can be sure of your return.
