That's exactly what I was thinking about with the spinoff news.

So any CDMA is a good CDMA now as far as Qualcomm concerned.

It will not be the case to the chips makers.

Euro/NTT/(Korean?) lands can go ahead boasting how WCDMA will dominate the world and Q's response is "I don't care".

Q is about the development on top of that now.

Now what they gonna do?

For Euros, they can choose to use their GPRS under the protection of EU and screw up their custmors, or maybe themselves too.

For NTT, they will face the strong competetion from DDI/IDO.

For Koreans, SangSum surely won't be happy with KT/SK/ or whoever trying to go the other way than CDMA2000/HDR. And to those carriers, let them talk the talk, the problem is can they walk the walk?

And all these won't make any twisting boasting and posturing in an attempt to take Q hostage end up empty.

Oh well...
