Thanks for the excellent article on indexing. It answered a lot of questions, though the key one can't be answered --- where will JDSU close on Wednesday.

But either way, I suspect that the short-term morning-after effect is another consequence of the games-within-games played by traders, brokers and indexers. The most likely culprit is the broker who has to buy more stock to "ramp the close" than his indexer client really wants to buy. That means he's holding the bag the next morning and needs to get out in a hurry.

I'm suspecting the games have already begun. Never in over two years have I seen JDSU or SDLI fail to move when the Nasdaq responded as it did today.

I'm not sure whether to load up on Valium or Champagne. :)
