Shawn,

Thank you so much for posting this piece. The danger of these kinds of writings remains in the fact that most of them are underground and underexposed. I especially enjoy these because it reminds me of those old Freshman English class projects in which we were to find the number of fallacies in writing.

Stuff like this regularly mixes fact with fiction to create panic for political gain. They are purely tools of manipulation - in this case, of the extreme right. The extreme left uses similar tactics as well. They are meant for the masses of people who are given to fantasy and paranoia. Written primarily for people who are unsure of themselves and their own futures and therefore cling to the past and the security of the status quo.

I'm not accusing you of actually believing this crap, but lemme ask this question. Does anyone really think that America's corporate giants would allow global governance of groups like the Sierra Club? Think about who really has power in the world. It ain't the Sierra Club. I'm thinking....CitiBank, Time Warner, Exxon, Cisco, Microsoft, the Federal Reserve....just to name a few of the names we all know on Wall Street. All in all, it's about money, honey. And, Planned Parenthood ain't exactly chock full of cash.

This little gem of fiction does allude to several real trends, however. Global organization and corporation, the decrease in the importance of the "Nation State", trade treaties, increased trade between nations, global courts for war crimes, and other such things. All in all, what this really comes down to is increased corporation between nations.... Nothing more, nothing less. The European Union is clearly an example of this type of new type of alignment. Much of this is being driven by the desire of international businesses to expand into new markets, and much of it is being driven by increased information exchange. The people that have the most to lose from this are usually deeply rooted in conflict of some sort, and are usually behind this sort of backwards propaganda.

What’s really nasty about articles such as these are statements like "We and everyone else lose our sovereignty". What exactly does that mean? People aren't quite sure, but they know it sounds bad. What if that means, "all the people of the world work together to create world peace"? Not so bad, huh?

The world is round; we all do in fact breath the same air; somehow we gotta learn to live with each other, and we gotta work on some common goals together. Don't be so afraid of the future - because the past kinda sucked.
