Of course, all that is needed is a very large cache memory and an ultra high speed hard disk. It also helps to run one program (which is smaller than the cache) at a time to reduce thrashing. In fact, thrashing can be completely eliminated by uniprogramming.

Generally speaking, the fewer programs you run at once the better.

PC66 may be adequate.
