OK Gang- Here is my question. The machine is a celeron 300a overclocked to 450, 128 ram, Matrox? card 8mg, WIN98SE, BH6 motherboard. Been having for the last several days blue screens, freeze ups and spontaneous reboots. Got where it would only run from never to an hour or so. Tried the obvious like removing the exrta apps running in the tray, File check in the windows tools, and tried to reinstall the 98SE OS. That didn't go so well as the machine wouldn't run long enough to copy the files. Boy did I then have fun recovering 20 or 30 individually.

At last resort, I figured that running the 300a CPU at 451 for the last 18 months could be the problem so cut the speed back to 300. No problems since. (has been six hours)

Do you folks think that this was the problem and I've solved it?
Am I likely to be happy with only two thirds of the CPU speed that I had? Use the machine mostly for internet browsing etc.
If an upgrade is advised would you keep the same motherboard and how fast a celeron could I use? Or PII?
Thanks
-Don
