Hi richard surckla; Re Warburg's post re the P4, Intel and Rambus...

Translation: "Our clients are still trying to get out of
RMBS, so don't sell yours yet."

Actual fact is that the Intel activity on the P4 is
identical to what they went through with VIA and PC133.
First they denied that they would ever support PC133, then
they changed their mind. Now i815s are the big new chipset.
Same will repeat with the P4, Intel will show up late while
VIA supports their cpu with a VIA SDRAM (and DDR SDRAM)
chipset. Like the VIA guy said, sometimes history repeats
itself.

Chipset counts indicate where the market is going:

SDRAM: 81 (Current technology)
VC SDRAM: 14 (Boutique memory type)
RDRAM: 5 (Boutique memory type)
DDR SDRAM: 17 (Next technology)

As far as a mainstream memory, the above count shows just
how little support RDRAM has.
