Just one correction/addition.

Vulcan Ventures is an investor in both ReplayTV and TiVo.

Staying on the PTV topic, Dish and WebTV have a PTV out which allows recording of DBS programming; no encoding is necessary since it's already in digital format, so there is no degradation in picture or sound quality. TiVo and DirecTV will be putting out a combined box (DirecTiVo) later this year, I believe.
