Ali, thanks.

"In the future, one could imagine a home having a central video/multimedia server which handles all these tasks with the video being served over HPNA 3.0 (100Mbps).

Central servers, like mainframes, usually yield to distributed architectures, even in the home. My sixteen year old's MP3 player that she wears on her belt is a good case in point. We have an entertainment center, but she listens to her own stuff over a hip-based system.

Oops, I wrote the preceding prior to reading your statement that follows:

"You're already seeing this type of thing happening with MP3 audio. S3's Rio division has an audio receiver which streams audio stored on your PC through HPNA 2.0 to your stereo system."

HPNA stands for Home Phoneline Network Alliance, right? Does Bluetooth or IRDA (infrared) and other wireless protocols have a place in this architecture?
