Tenchusatsu,

<If the prediction that the demand will outpace the supply in Q3 and Q4, it's a non-brainer. If the supply catches up, then we can argue.>

I don't know. Six billion from Intel to increase capacity? I think it's a given that supply will eventually catch up with demand. It's simply a question of when.

I don't know what the schedule of the new capacity coming online is, but it should really be in place right now to be able to bring chips to market in Q3 and Q4 of this year.

I don't have a crystal ball to know what can happen beyond this time frame.

Perhaps this is the "price war" doomsday scenario that Joe Osha was talking about.

I think the "price war" generally only applies to the low end chips, that are in plentiful supply, but no one really wants them.

If all you had to sell was a 300 MHz chip, you would think that there was a price war in Q1 and Q2 of 2000, since most you could get for it is $20 to $30.

The supply of the highest end chips will always be constrained, so the prices will always stay high.

Joe
