-July 25, 2000--Amkor Technology has completed the integration of recently acquired Integra Technologies into its worldwide operations, adding new resources to the company's existing test service capabilities in anticipation of continued growth in the semiconductor industry.
In a key move to add additional strength to Amkor's test resources, former Integra President Joe Holt, a 22-year semiconductor test veteran, has been named vice president of Amkor's worldwide test organization. Becky Craft, one of Integra's original owners and a 15-year industry veteran, is the general manager of the former Integra facilities at Wichita and San Jose. These facilities now are known as Amkor Test Services to better reflect their new role.
Paul Emmett, a 21-year test industry veteran, rejoins Amkor as vice president for test sales support, and Tom Boehm, with more than 18 years of test and semiconductor experience, continues in his role as director of worldwide test services.
"Combining the technologies and resources of these companies is a significant step for Amkor and our customers, particularly with the continued rapid growth of the semiconductor industry and the related growth of outsourcing of test services," Holt said. "By utilizing our test design capabilities at both our Silicon Valley and Wichita locations, we can provide a faster time to market for our customers, and a much wider range and level of test services for advanced products. In addition, because Amkor has expanded our test facilities in the Philippines and in Korea, we are well-positioned to handle increased demands for test services."
Nearly 50 test engineers and technicians will staff the new organization in the United States alone. Additional test engineers and technicians are already in place at Amkor test facilities in the Philippines and Korea, where the company has nearly 200,000 square feet of test space and operates more than 525 test systems for various levels and complexities of test services.
"The addition of Integra's engineering and technical resources to the existing Amkor test organization bolsters the company's ability to respond to customer test requirements," Holt said. "We will continue to add the resources necessary to keep pace with increased demands from our global customer base." |
