SPEECH CURTAILED

In a frightening move that alarmed many supporters of the
constitutionally guaranteed right to political free speech, the US Supreme Court found in 1994 that an organization involved in social or political protest can be considered a racketeering organization.

The case is the National Organization for Women v. Scheidler, 114 S.Ct. 1430. The suit, filed by NOW, was the first time that the RICO (Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) had been used to silence the exercise of politically motivated free speech on a controversial issue. The original intent of this law was to fight organized crime and not silence non-politically correct speech and actions protected under the First Amendment. In other words, you can now be jailed for actively expressing an unpopular opinion.

What group (or individual) expressing an unpopular opinion will be next?
