Hi Jack and thread.

I just did some financial work for the President of a company who is contracted to do installs and infrastructure for Shaw (in Canada) and T in the US. A few points of note:

-Shaw pays his company approx $60 CDN per install
-T pays approx $180 USD per install.
-Self install would be a mess (although he is slightly biased) The hardware is too diverse from home to home, MSO to MSO for one easily installable standard. He said home install tests were failures.
-ATHM Subs: He said the number of areas where @HOME will become available in the next year is huge, his words "it's exploding". His install workforce will be concentrating in Nevada, Washington, Oregon. His infrastructure workforce is scattered across T's areas.
-@HOME will be offered in Nevada, Seattle, and Portland for $19.95 a month.
-He is hiring installers and buying equipment as fast as he can, and he can't keep up.

He is very bullish on @HOME the company. He felt the combination of price and more homes passed will mean huge increases in subs. He's not a shareholder, but thought $15 was a good price.

We also discussed a possible T purchase of SHAW or Rogers. I'm checking into the CRTC rules on that one. T's already in bed with Rogers, so I can't see them being allowed to buy Shaw.

Regards
Jay
