Tom, what did you think about todays earnings report? Have you had a chance to listen to the conference call?
There is a link to the conference call at:

actel.com

The earnings report is at:

biz.yahoo.com

They came in with .40 for the quarter beating the estimate by 2 cents. I'm looking to see what caused the $10 drop in the stock today. The only thing that seemed negative to me in the conference call was the statement that they were targeting revenue growth for Q3 in the mid single digit range which seems down from the last two quarters where revenue grew almost 10%.
In the conference call there was a lot of talk about the strong future of embedded FPGAs. It looks like the purchase of Gatefield will be good for Actel as it will give them Gatefield's embedded technology which they did not have before. I don't know how many Gatefield shareholders will vote yes on the deal as the offering price of $5.25 seems rather low, when you consider the price of the stock has been around $5 for most of the year and the 52 week range was 3 3/8 to 8 1/8. But Gatefield says they will run out of money on June 30, 2000 and the shareholders risk losing everything if they don't approve the merger so maybe it will go through.
Maybe it was just a bad day to report your earnings as LSI also met the earnings estimate but got knocked down 20% because sales missed the estimate by 20 million.
Anyway I always like to hear what you think about Actel's prospects. It looks they were finally getting some respect in the market place, but got knocked down a peg or two today.
